Have you ever been punched in the face?
It’s the worst feeling ever.
Today I got hit in the face.
Multiple times.
One after the other.
Like racing sniper bullets that try to go ‘through’ your head.
The first clear shot to your temple leaves you a bit dizzy.
And before you could reposition yourself again, you’re hit once more.
Painful.
But today’s sparring session at my dojo taught me one thing.
Pain is a beautiful teacher.
Nothing checks your ego like getting hit in the face.
It’s a reminder that you could be outclassed.
It’s a lesson that you must stop being aggressive every time and learn to defend properly.
Applies to life. Applies to copywriting.
Because offense is not always the best defense. Ask Floyd Mayweather.
But here’s a positive lesson too: the more you get hit, the less you’re afraid.
You learn to assess your strengths and threshold. So you could always strive to go a bit beyond that every time you train.
That’s it.
I’m writing this blog after a very long time. Almost after 8 months of hiatus (lazy slacking).
Like the punches I ate up today, the last year was a bit painful for me.
Emotionally. Physically. But more emotionally.
Not playing the victim card here, but just ‘observing’.
I got hit. I got back up. Directed my energy to other stuff.
Tried scaling my copywriting income. Almost doubled and tripled it.
Tried a new project which stalled at the initiation phase. Got down. Again, got back up.
Gotta take the wins and losses the same way.
Guess that’s who I am.
So the same’s here. Lost my consistency in writing blogs. So writing this to you is me getting back up again, if you get what I mean.
Planning to churn out at least one blog a week consecutively for the next year.
Grab me by the collar and ask me if I fail. I owe you that.
From here, I’m also planning to devote more of my efforts towards direct response copywriting rather than branding.
Current clients, needn’t fear (if you’re reading this, you know who you are ;) ). I’ll still be taking up branding projects that seem exciting and challenging.
But my next challenge seems to be mastering the art and craft of direct response. Especially I’ve fallen in love in emails. Did you know that email marketing could give you an ROI of $42 for every dollar spent while social media's ROI stands at about $28 approximately?
So yeah, one thing's for sure. I'm going to make more money for my clients.
So that’s that.
There’s joy in writing for clients.
There’s pleasure in writing for yourself.
And there’s me trying to do both.
If you’re reading this, I really appreciate your time.
See you in the next blog.
Ciao.
